Photography can be therapeutic both for those who stand behind the lens and those who view the product. Both taking and viewing photos can help us slow down, focus, be in the moment, and contribute to the practice of mindfulness. As we emerge from the shadows of a very challenging period in Canadian Medicine, we want to contribute to helping our Canadian Critical Care colleagues appreciate moments captured during the past 2.5 years in the form of a Photo Contest.

With the theme "The Impact of the Pandemic in Critical Care", here are the winners of the contest:

1st Place

Dr. Robert Arntfield

TEAM PRONE  photo documenting and celebrating the herculean effort of the proning strategy and the teamwork, coordination, PPE burden and focus required to do this successfully - patient, after patient, after patient.

2nd Place

Dr. Paul Engels

The modern-day Dr. Schnabel visits the COVID ICU for Halloween 2020 & 2021

3rd Place

Dr. Cheryl Holmes

My final central line insertion after a 33 year career of nights and weekends.

The Canadian Critical Care Society thanks our organizational sponsors, MD Financial Management and Scotiabank for their generous support!
