About the Course  

Expert faculty will provide you with first-class support to help you build skills in bedside ultrasound to help recognize and intervene on various states of critical illness.

Continuing Professional Development Credit

This activity is an Accredited Simulation Activity (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of The Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the CPD Medicine Program, University of Manitoba on June 27, 2022 and expires June 27, 2025. Remember to visit MAINPORT to record your learning and outcomes. You may claim a maximum of 7.25 hours (credits are automatically calculated).

Cardiac ultrasound

You will learn how to obtain key views as part of a basic critical care echo and learn about an array of pathology from tamponade to RV failure.

Thoracic ultrasound

You will learn how to obtain quality thoracic windows and examine for pathology including pneumo-thorax, pleural effusions, and others.

Integration

You will learn how to integrate both cardiac and thoracic ultrasound in approaching the undifferentiated acutely unwell patient.

Learning Critical Care Ultrasound

Whether you are just starting this journey or simply looking to update your skills, we have designed a course model to meet your needs. Our instructional design model includes modern learning techniques including flipped classroom learning that will prepare you for hands-on instruction. Hands-on mentorship will provide you with direct constructive feedback to enhance your skillset. Further, our image interpretation sessions are designed to be interactive and encourage participation. Clinical cases are selected from actual cases seen by faculty.

Cancellation Policy

We reserve the right to cancel this program due to insufficient registrations or circumstances beyond our control. Registrants will be notified at the earliest possible date in the event of cancellation. Registration fees for cancelled courses will be refunded in full; however we are not liable for any loss, damages or other expenses that such cancellations may cause.

Refund Policy

Notice of cancellation must be received in writing 14 days prior to the event. A $50 processing fee will be charged for cancellations received on or before this date.
