What is this program about?
The Canadian Critical Care Review is held annually and is designed specifically to meet the educational needs of practicing intensivists and adult critical care trainees. It addresses the clinical challenges faced both during the Royal College subspecialty examinations in critical care and in professional practice. The review course is intended as a knowledge consolidation and assessment exercise.

Who would benefit from this course?
Practicing intensivists, critical care trainees, nurses and respiratory therapists who work in critical care units.

What topics are covered?
Core topics are presented each year covering the major specialty areas within Critical Care Medicine. 

How are the topics chosen?
Each year participants to the review course complete a needs assessment that allow the organizing committee to identify core topics. The top topics are ranked and a 2-year rotating program is designed to encompass the top 30-35 domains.

Who are the speakers?

Speakers are chosen from educational institutions across Canada and are selected based on their expertise and familiarity with each selected topic.

Please note, the Canadian Critical Care Review is not sponsored by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. All Royal College examiners have been excluded from participating with this program or providing any input into the selected topics and contents of the material covered within each topic.

What type of feedback has been received from previous program participants?

Past programs have received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants. Feedback from the 2023 program has indicated:

Does the Canadian Critical Care Review program cover everything in critical care?
The top-ranked topics identified in the needs assessments are selected. Some topics are presented each year while others rotate every second year. 

Is the Canadian Critical Care Review program accredited?

Information on accreditation is not available at this time.

Will content be available after the meeting?

A content capture will be made available to all registrants following the review program. Rotating topics that are not covered this year but were recorded in 2023 will be made available on the course portal.
