CANADIAN CRITICAL CARE REVIEW TRANSITIONING TO A VIRTUAL MEETING
March 16, 2020
Dear CCCS Community,
After careful consideration of the rapidly evolving circumstances that are associated with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) global pandemic and in the interest of the health and safety of healthcare workers and the Canadian public, the Canadian Critical Care Society (CCCS) is transitioning the Canadian Critical Care Review (CRRR) to a virtual meeting. The CCCR will no longer be held in-person in Toronto on June 5-6, 2020. Considering the risk to patient health and safety, travel bans and possible quarantine of health care professionals, the CCCS Executive and the CCCR Planning Committee have decided that transitioning the event to a virtual meeting is in the best interest of our community’s care providers, their patients and families. The health and safety of delegates, exhibitors, and patients is of primary importance to the CCCS.
This decision is informed by concerns expressed by members, attendees, speakers and by the Government of Canada’s “Risk-informed decision-making for mass gatherings during COVID-19 global outbreak” which assesses healthcare professionals as high-risk individuals to attend mass gatherings.
The CCCR leadership and our management team are working diligently to offer attendees a robust online educational opportunity in place of the in-person conference. The CCCS and CCCR committees encourages your support in this time of transition. More information regarding existing registrations will be provided to registrants in the coming weeks. Please cancel your hotel and travel arrangements immediately.
We ask for your patience at this time as this situation is unprecedented and the logistics will take time to work through as we navigate the transition.
