  • Introductory talk on physician wellness
  • Crisis resource management: Review and discussion of the team approach in critical care and how to manage a crisis situation
  • Airway: Case based discussion to airway management in critical ill patients
  • Breathing: Review of relevant physiology and case based approach to mechanical ventilation
  • Circulation: Review of relevant physiology and case based discussion of cardiovascular resuscitation
  • Virtual Simulation: Virtual Simulation of critical care scenarios facilitating medical learning, team interaction and CRM skills.
  • TeleSim: Simulation of phone calls from peripheral hospitals to the teaching hospital - focus on a collegial patient centered conversation and providing advice on patient management before transport
  • ETR: Session on establishing therapeutic relationships with the patient and their families
  • Neuro Critical Care: Case based discussion on management of common neurocritical care problems
  • FACES: Facilitated acute critical event Simulation - a putting it all together session - small group case discussion with of the FACES cases from the Royal College with a critical care touch up.

About

The Canadian Critical Care Society (CCCS) is the National Specialty Society, representing Adult and Paediatric Critical Care Medicine physicians in Canada. The practice of Critical Care Medicine in Canada is multidisciplinary and CCCS members hold base specialty certification in anaesthesia, medicine, paediatrics, emergency medicine or surgery and some surgical subspecialties such as cardiac surgery and neurosurgery.
